Our story

I grew up being driven down dirt roads, and that is where I first took the wheel. I quickly turned to the need for speed on pavement, but the dirt called me back. When I married, my wife enjoyed my manual transmission coupe. However life and priorities change. With our first daughter on the way, I traded the sports car for the family SUV. Our choice being a 2018 4Runner TRD Off Road named Iris. I was very surprised at how easy Iris handled trails in stock form. The Bridgestone all season tires shocked me, because I assumed they would slip and get torn up fast. However, modifications did come slowly. Starting with tires, moving to suspension, and eventually trail armor with smaller convenience and cosmetic items.

We want to share that tackling trails and enjoying nature doesn’t require tens of thousands of dollars in modifications, off road trailers, or even rooftop tents. I know that at 5th gen 4Runner isn’t the cheapest way to go off road, but it’s not like the decked out rigs that we see so often. I hope that others see this and look to do the same. While we are getting started, I want to focus on exposing the natural beauty of our home state, New Mexico.
